GENERAL INFORMATION
Current taxes payable at par to October 31st, 2010. PAYMENT OF TAXES MUST BE RECEIVED BY OUR OFFICE ON OR BEFORE OCTOBER 31ST, 2010 OR THEY WILL BE SUBJECT TO PENALTIES. Penalties on current taxes are added at the rate of 1% on the first day of each month beginning November 1st, 2010. Penalties on arrears as listed on current tax statements are calculated to December 31st, 2009only. Add 1% per month on arrears to date of payment or call the office to confirm the arrears plus penalties.
The property owners name and address as it appears on the enclosed statement is the most recent information made available to the Municipality. If an ownership change has since occurred, please forward the enclosed tax statement to the new owner or return it immediately to the Municipality. Please advise the Municipal Office promptly of any change in your address. Failure to receive a tax bill does not excuse an owner from the responsibility for payment of taxes nor does it relieve that owner from liability to penalties for late payment.

ASSESSMENT/TAX INCREASE/DECREASE
Please be advised of the following school special levy requirements:
1) Sunrise School Division requirement is $1,029,499.00 which is a decrease of $20,521.00 from 2009.
2) Seine River School Division requirement is $271,172.00 which is a decrease of $17,724.00 from 2009.
Tax Break Down for 2010: Municipal is 26% and Education is 74% .
Under provincial legislation, the RM of Reynolds is given the responsibility to collect taxes for the local school boards.
The RM of Reynolds does not set this rate and is only given a total that must be collected. If you agree that it is time to remove education tax off property, we encourage you to make your views known to your local MLA and the Minister of Education, The Honourable Nancy Allan at 168 Legislative Bldg., 450 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 0V8.
For 2010 the assessment values of all properties province-wide were updated to reflect April 1, 2008 market values from 2003 market values. The Provincial Assessment Branch mailed all property owners new assessment notices this past spring. As a result assessment values have increased significantly in 2010 to reflect the strong housing market. Some properties may see tax increases on their 2010 tax statements while others may see decreases. If you wish to appeal your assessment you have the opportunity to do so at the Board of Revision held at the Municipal Office. The last day to appeal the 2011 assessment to the Board of Revision is October 25th, 2010.
